Description
Two-color title page with engraving. Present the two copper engravings in folded plates by Sedelmaijr, the first with the portrait of Eugenio Francesco and the second with the rapier and the insignia of power. At the Colophon the coat of arms of the Volpi. Fourth son of Eugenio Maurizio count of Soissons and Olimpia Mancini, the controversial and adventurous niece of Cardinal Mazarin, who escaped a fate that saw him condemned to the ecclesiastical choice, Eugenio Francesco di Savoia-Soissons was one of the greatest leaders and strategists of his century, in the faithful service of the Emperor of Vienna for life. He was responsible, in the short intervals between one campaign and another, for the construction of the Belvedere palace, his Viennese residence, and the launch of his art collections. This funeral oration, composed by Domenico Passionei, Archbishop of Ephesus and Apostolic Nuncio in Vienna, is presented here in a second edition after the first, printed in 4º in a few copies "with much magnificence and form and characters, and of foreign and precious paper ”, had been exhausted in the gifts of the author to the Princes and Grandes of Europe. Il Comino then publishes this second edition, of minor pretensions, accompanying it to the Author's letter to Mr. Gio. Antonio Volpi, ante litteram editor of this work.
