Description

Important annotated edition of Horace's work in which Carolus Zeunius collects the fruits of the work of two of the most important Horace philologists of the 18th century: William Baxter who publishes his fundamental study on Horace's poetry in 1701 and JM Gesner who takes up his indications for his 1752 edition. The text and notes are presented on the page with a very balanced and extremely accurate typographical appearance. From the beautiful paper ex-libris on the inside cover we know that the volume was part of the library of another illustrious scholar of antiquity, Richard Paul Jodrell (1745-1831), Fellow of the Royal Society, author in turn of studies on classical authors but also of theatrical works that were quite successful.
